Carmen and Jake have been together since 2010, when they were just 17. Long before Cloudy Confections existed, we shared an appetite for doing things simply because they felt fun, creative, and worth a crack.
Our first real foray into entrepreneurship came in 2016 with a Kickstarter-funded watch brand, Jacopo Dondi. After producing over 2,000 watches, we realised our passion had shifted. By 2020 we stepped away, and in 2025 officially closed that chapter - making space for something that felt far more us.
A MALLOW IS BORN
Cloudy Confections began in 2018, while Carmen was also running a leading gourmet gift and hamper business in East Victoria Park.
What started as a creative side project quickly became something more. Within the first year, it was clear this wasn’t just about making marshmallows - it was about reimagining what they could be.
S'MORE THE MERRIER
Carmen became a full-time mallow-maker in 2019, and even through the uncertainty of 2020 - alongside welcoming their two children, Rowan and Leilah - Cloudy continued to grow, quietly and consistently.
Jake supported the business wherever he could alongside his day job, and in early 2025, when circumstances forced a pause and a recalibration, the decision became clear: it was time to go all in, together.
Cloudy Confections is now very much a family affair - built on shared risk, shared creativity, and a whole lot of marshmallows.
STILL GROWING
Still just the two of us, Cloudy is run from our dedicated marshmallow kitchen at our home in Shelley, where we now turn out over 4000 marshmallows a week.
What started small continues to grow - and while our kitchen has carried us this far, we’re actively working toward establishing a true, permanent home for Cloudy. A place where our marshmallows, our ideas, and our future can keep expanding.
